Conjunction of Information Technologies in Russia

According to a recent study of the Exterior Commerce Institute (ICEX) the IT industry in Russia is in full development. The digital economy represents 2,4% of the GDP of the country and 19% if you consider all the markets that depend on the Internet. According to the United Nations index, despite being in position 45, Russia is one of the countries where the growing use of the Internet stands out the most.

In 2015, the number of people with Internet access in the country reached 70,7% of the population. As for connecting devices, there is no big difference in accordance to the size of the population: smartphones are the devices that are the most used, except if you regroup the use of laptops and PCs. A surprising data is the ongoing use of conventional telephones.

The ICEX also adds that thanks to the impulse of the IT Ministry and the mass media in Russia, connections and network access of the country have been modernised. The average speed to connect to the Internet is 7,4 Mb’s with a high number of subscriptions, ten times higher than the subscriptions to fixed connections.
